The breathable upper material consists of mesh fabric, nylon scrim and lightweight rip stop. The upper disperses of water in an instant, and yet does not let any debris access the inside of the shoe. Participating in a recent AR race in and around the Emmarentia Dam region, the Roclite™ 243’s performed like a dream; we started with a technical trail run of about 6km’s, the “Second-skin-fit” kept all the debris out and sought for maximal comfort. Dispersion wise I was very impressed after the kayaking leg, we had to jump into the kayaks and jump out as fast as we could, which meant we jumped into water about knee depth, and then had to sprint tarmac back to the finish with wet shoes – WHAT A PLEASURE!
A recognisable spec from Inov-8… their shoes fit even better when wet, and ensures a BLISTER FREE run – love it! No more excuses of “my shoes didn’t drain properly” or “my shoes were so heavy”… Inov-8 doesn’t “Rock” that way – and I can vouch for that!
Inov-8 Roclite™ 243 Midsole
The midsole of the Roclite™ 243 model is injected with EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), which is a foam like layer between the inner- and outer sole of this shoe. This EVA lining consists of 1000’s of microscopic foamy bubbles that act like cells, making the material lightweight and flexible.
Ever wondered how your toes are able to generate grip when wearing a running shoe? Well Inov-8 has a patented design called the “Meta-shank” technology which is a 5-finger Polymer construction within the midsole and this shank aligns with each individual metatarsal, providing extra underfoot protection and flexibility. I notably felt how the “Fascia-band” helps generate grip and propels you forward allowing a shorter and faster cadence making you move forward more efficiently and smoothly. Looking at the sole more intensely you will also see a “Meta-Flex” groove, also in the forefoot part of the Roclite™ sole and that groove adds a natural flex, allowing a perfect forefoot strike.
