Inov-8 Roclite™ 243 Review

Founded in 2003 by Wayne Edy, the Inov-8 brand has grown from strength to strength over the last decade to become one of the leaders in the trail running footwear market with their aggressive approach to trail running footwear design.

Out of the Box

Opening the Inov-8 Roclite™ 243 box, the racing red colour way instantly catches your eye. Weighing in at only 243 grams per shoe (based on a size UK8 shoe) the Inov-8 Roclite™ 243 has plenty of spec to make this a very swifty* shoe. One of the main things I noticed is the toe box of the Roclite™ 243’s looking far more spacious than my previous Roclite™ 285 model. Another very cool aspect of the shoe is the fact that the Roclite™ 243 is now a 1-arrow model, meaning that there is a 3mm differential between the heal and toe – ensuring a more light, fast and natural forefoot strike.

Upper

Inov-8 has a motto that their shoes’ uppers should have a “SOCK-LIKE-FIT” which I totally agree with. The reason for this is, the more snug the shoe fits, the less debris will enter, the less movement there is within the shoe, the less friction between your feet and the shoe, thus minimizing blisters, hot-spots and chafing.

The Inov-8 Roclite™ 243 has a very snug fit.

The reinforced toe box provides more than enough protection against sharp edges and gnarly rocks and the sides of the shoes are also laminated with protective a TPU (Polyurethane) type of cover ensuring that your feet are kept safe inside the shoe.
