Ezemvelo Nature Reserve is situated just north of Bronkhorstspruit on the border between the Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Ezemvelo Nature Reserve is one of the biggest unspoilt grasslands in South Africa.
The reserve boasts spectacular cliffs, magnificent views over the Wilge River, ancient rock paintings and huge rock formations. Ezemvelo Nature Reserve has various species of game that includes kudu, impala, wildebeest, zebra, hyena and leopard. The reserve has comfortable self catering chalets, mountain / hiker huts and camping facilities. There is also a curio shop that sells water, cold drinks etc.
The trails at Ezemvelo Nature Reserve are beautifully maintained by volunteers called the Friends of Ezemvelo. The trails offer plenty of single track, jeep track, river crossings and some tough climbs while enjoying some beautiful views over the unspoilt grassland.
